This past week we have had a focus on Poetry. I was very impressed with the Ning Nang Nong poems that children performed at home (many thanks for all the time and effort put in place by parents) and it was evident they had used all that was learnt about what makes a successful performance. We begun to recreate and imitate some poems and next week will turn our focus to creating our own Chinese New Years poetry.
We are coming to an end in our IPC ‘Gateways to the World’ unit with our Exit Point to be completed. For the rest of this term we will be focusing on our new science unit ‘Saving the World’, which I am sure the children will love.
This past week we have worked hard in maths looking at angles and perpendicular lines. Children have gained a strong understanding of right, straight, acute and obtuse angles and are now able to confidently recognise and name lines that are perpendicular in the world around us. We will continue this focus into next week with a study or parallel lines following on to a study of area.
Just a gentle reminder that weekly on a Friday children will have a times tables test in the afternoon. Please ensure that children practice these times tables throughout the week. There has been a marked improvement into children’s mental maths and this has had a direct effect on their maths problem solving.
