Week Ending Friday 28th April

This week we have continued to study Alfred Noyes’ narrative poem, the Highwayman. We have been tracking the emotions of the Highwayman throughout the text and writing diary entries in character. Next week we will focus on other characters from the text, using techniques such as hot-seating and writing dialogue to understand their feelings throughout the poem.

In maths, we have been studying Area and Perimeter, and how to calculate these for squares and rectangles. We will be moving on to calculating the area and perimeter of compound shapes.

In our IPC unit Mission to Mars we have learned about the conditions on Mars and how these could be overcome to allow humans to start a community there. Next week in IPC we will be looking at the distances of the different planets from the sun, and how night and day is created by the earth’s rotation around the sun and on its own axis.
